Now a days using the ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) which provide customers with the convenient banknote trading is very common. Once user’s bank card is lost and the password is stolen, the criminal will draw all cash in the shortest time, which will bring enormous financial losses to customer, so to rectify this problem we are implementing this project. The purpose of this project is to increase the security that customer use the ATM machine. The results obtained confirm that the current approach could significantly reduce ATM fraud if not totally eradicate it. The backend database system that serves as storeroom of the templates of all ATM account holders' pre-registered fingerprints. The proposed system demonstrated a three-tier architectural structure, the verification system which centered on the enrolment, enhancement, feature extraction and matching of fingerprints after which a short-code will be send to the holders phone number. ![]() This paper tries to find a solution to the above problems by introducing fingerprint authentication and a short-code system into the existing ATM machine. The existing ATM machine uses PIN-Card as a security measure which is very weak and easy to guess or break. In order to fight or reduce the aforementioned problem a secure automated teller machine using fingerprint and short-code system is proposed. Another major problems people face is the loss of the password and not remembering it again, these have cause a lot of damage to many people and organizations. Nigeria is at the center of electronic related fraud and this can only be expected to increase as we march into the cashless economy. One major problem in the world of the cashless economy is internet related fraud. In cashless policy, security is vital to protect customers' funds. It is convenient due to its low power requirement and portability. This system can be employed at any application with enhanced security because of the uniqueness of fingerprints. The system uses FIM3030 fingerprint scanner to capture fingerprints with its DSP processor and optical sensor. Authors design a simple fingerprint recognition system using LPC2148 as a core controller. Since, in conventional identification methods with ATM, criminal cases are increasing making financial losses to customers. Use of the ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) which provides customers with the convenient banknote trading is facing a new challenge to carry on the valid identity to the customer.
